Key Numbers Every Driver Must Know
Learn About Classes of Road Signs
Zimbabwe road signs are divided into 5 classes as per the Highway Code (Section 18): Class A (Warning), Class B (Regulatory), Class C (Informative), Class D (Traffic LIghts Signals and Class E (Carriageway Markings). Click any category to learn more.
⚠️ Class A — Danger Warning Signs
Triangular, red-bordered. Warn drivers of potential hazards ahead — bends, animals, intersections, railway crossings.
🔴 Class B — Regulatory Signs
Circular. Red circles prohibit; blue circles command. Speed limits, STOP, No Entry, Give Way — must be obeyed by law.
📋 Class C — Informative Signs
Rectangular. Provide guidance, directions, distances, and route information to help drivers navigate safely.
🚦 Class D — Traffic Light Signals
STOP on RED. GO on GREEN. Prepare to stop on AMBER unless too close to the intersection to stop safely.
🛣️ Class E — Carriageway Markings
Road surface markings guide lane use, boundaries, and hazards. Continuous lines must not be crossed.
Speed, Controls, Age & Vehicle Classes
👶 About Age
Minimum ages for Class 1–5 licences. Class 4 (cars) from age 16; PSV from age 25.
🚌 Vehicle Classes
Class 1–5 breakdown: motorcycles, light vehicles, heavy trucks, agricultural machinery, and public service vehicles.
⚡ Speed Rules
National speed limits, stopping distances, and precautionary speed reductions per the Highway Code (Section 2.10).
🎮 Controls & Hand Signals
Pedals, gears, parking brake, and all official hand signals as required by the Highway Code (Section 2.12).
